The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for the daily activities of the Division related to handling, processing and depositing cash receipts in order to ensure prompt and accurate recording of payments to customer accounts. The Cash Application Specialist will reconcile cash deposits to the general ledger, lockboxes and branch records as well as other analyses and month-end procedures. This position will closely interact with Billing, Credit and Collections, Dispute Management and other Division personnel. This will require a professional with excellent problem solving skills and experience in accounts receivable cash applications as well as billing and/or collections.
The position will require the ability to lead a collaborative work effort and balance financial goals with support for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Preform cash application duties related to the daily processing of cash receipts and postings to customer accounts, including payments made by credit card, lockbox and branch deposits as well as other adjustments to customer accounts for credits/debits and account write-offs. • Interface with the Credit and Collections function as well as branch operations and others within the Division to troubleshoot and resolve customer payment discrepancies. • Ability to review a variety of reports, documents and on-line data systems to research problems. • Cash deposit reconciliations to the general ledger, lockbox and branch records and other month-end procedures. • Assist management to develop, implement and monitor procedures to ensure cost effective work flow in the processing and application of cash, investigate methods of improving the capabilities of the organization through changes in structure, technology or method. • Assist management to provide guidance on the consolidation of multiple lockboxes. • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance, marketing or related field or five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and/or training and education.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: • Occasionally (1-33% of work time);
COMPUTER SKILLS: • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) • Experience with SAP and/or ERP systems a plus
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and/or customers. • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
